Selah means “pause and calmly think of that.” Our best refuge in our storms of trouble and anxiety is to pause, be still, and think of God.

Fear is an imposter. If it can capture your awareness, it can form your “reality.” Keep your focus on Jesus. Practice His presence in everything you do. His solution to our fears and discouragement is “I am with you.” That eliminates all impossibilities in one whack.

Watch an eagle as it glides through the air. It’s wings do not move as it seemingly soars effortlessly up and out of sight. Even though it is rising through the air, the weight of the eagle is actually causing it to glide downward all the time. But the updrafts in the air are moving the eagle upward at a faster rate than he is gliding downward. As long as the eagle stays in the updrafts it has the ability to rise without effort. So can we rise above the forces that pull us downward, not by our own efforts, but by staying in the uplifting presence of God’s amazing grace.

So can we rise above the forces that pull us downward, not by our own efforts, but by staying in the uplifting presence of God’s amazing grace.
